Wales goes Wild for Trail Running Festival!

25 Ebrill 2017

Wales has gone Wild for the 2017 Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival as anticipation grows for next month’s Mid Wales event.

This year’s Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival promises to be the biggest and best yet and Wild Trail snack bars will be at the heart of the action. The Welsh snack brand, based in Tywyn on the fringes of Snowdonia, has joined the festival as official sponsor to support runners at the event, which includes half marathon, 10K and 3K Family Fun Run routes, on Sunday 21st May.

With over 700 entries already registered for the event (which forms part of the Royal Welsh Spring festival) numbers have already exceeded previous years as Builth Wells prepares to welcome runners of all ages to its picturesque countryside.

Wild Trail will be onsite at the event to offer a selection of free tasters and snacks to entrants and spectators, as well as providing a free bar to every runner that crosses the finish line. Wild Trail’s bars are all made in Wales with just five simple, natural and delicious ingredients and are gluten and dairy free, no added sugar and vegan.

The team at Wild Trail were originally inspired to create their healthy snacks by their very own wild trail. Looking out from their factory in Wales is Craig yr Aderyn (also known as Bird’s Rock) - a place that has given four generations of the Wild Trail family a reason to get outside, explore and stay healthy.

Robin Williams, Wild Trail CEO, commented: “At Wild Trail, we want our snacks to inspire people to enjoy the great outdoors, get active and find their own wild trail.  Partnering with the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival is a perfect match – the event is a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to run a wild trail at one of Wales’ leading venues.

“The whole team at Wild Trail are delighted to be supporting such an inclusive event and we look forward to adding to the event experience for all those people taking part, be it families running the toddler trail right up to keen runners taking on the half marathon.”

Matt Newman, Run 4 Wales CEO, commented: “The Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival is delighted to form a new partnership with Wild Trail.  There is a natural fit between both our brands and we always enjoy working with innovative Welsh based companies.

“On crossing the finish line runners will receive a free race t-shirt, medal and now a Wild Trail snack, which will enhance the running experience further. We look forward to welcoming the Wild Trail team to what promises to be the best Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival yet.”

Time is running out if you want to be a part of this year’s Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival 2017. The half marathon and 10k trail courses start and finish in the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells and take in valleys, fields, woodland tracks and stunning forestry. The family-friendly 3k and toddler trail events offer something for all ages and abilities. All entrants also receive free entry into the Royal Welsh Spring Festival, an action packed family day out.

Entries are still open and runners are encouraged to raise money for the events lead charity partner Wales Air Ambulance to support their crucial work providing emergency air cover for those who face life-threatening illness and injury. To sign up visit www.rwtrailrunningfestival.co.uk
